Giving back is a tradition at Oakhurst, whether it's our annual financial contributions or the gift of employee time. Over the years, we have developed a strong program of charitable giving to non-profits, first in Greater Portland, then throughout Maine, and now throughout northern New England. Here's an overview of our Charitable Giving program and what we give to the outstanding community organizations we are honored to support.
- Salvation Army
The Salvation Army Red Kettles have been an American tradition since 1891, helping raise financial support for critical Salvation Army programs and services year round. This campaign allows you to host your own Red Kettle - online. You become a vital part of our Christmas efforts when you help those in need by hosting an Online Red Kettle and filling it with donations from family, friends and colleagues.

- United Way of Greater Portland
We are grateful that many employees have decided to participate in the employee payroll deduction program, enabling us to support the United Way's many Portland area recipient organizations.
- Friends of Casco Bay
Friends of Casco Bay is a marine stewardship organization founded in 1989 to improve and protect the environmental health of Casco Bay. Oakhurst's support helps to keep the Bay and its shorelines clean and protected, so that future generations can enjoy this natural resource.
Rippleffect is a youth and community development organization operating outdoor adventure programming out of Portland, Maine. Their mission is to promote positive youth and community development through learning adventures at their living classrooms on Cow Island. Given Oakhurst’s strong connection to Casco Bay and its islands - supporting Rippleffect’s efforts is a natural fit.
