Oakhurst Raises $21,963 for The Salvation Army

PORTLAND, MAINE — January 28, 2016 — Oakhurst, northern New England’s leading dairy brand, announced today its annual Egg Nog holiday fundraiser raised $21,963 this past holiday season for The Salvation Army of Northern New England and a whopping $280,000 since the program was founded in 1999, representing a total of 5.6 million containers of Egg Nog sold. Five cents of every Oakhurst Egg Nog container sold gets donated.

“Wow, that’s a lot of Egg Nog over 16 years,” said The Salvation Army Divisional Commander Major James LaBossiere. “Every year, we are extremely grateful for Oakhurst’s commitment to our organization. The funds raised through this annual holiday tradition provide much needed practical assistance and programming such as meals, after-school tutoring, recreational activities, and shelter for children and adults throughout Northern New England.”

Every year, The Salvation Army of Northern New England divides the funds raised between its 22 Corps Community Centers across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, with The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division receiving a small portion. Oakhurst has always requested that funds be directed to the communities where their loyal Egg Nog lovers purchase their product in support of the program.

Each holiday season, Oakhurst makes several Egg Nog flavors including its traditional Egg Nog, Light Egg Nog and its newest Buttered Rum Egg Nog. All of the company’s Egg Nog is made with milk from Maine dairy farms. Since 2003, dairy farmers who supply Oakhurst with their milk have committed to take America’s First Farmer’s pledge not to use artificial growth hormone.
