New Oakhurst Chocolate Milk to Hit Shelves This Week
PORTLAND, Maine (September 8, 2008) — Portland, Maine based Oakhurst Dairy announced today that they will be introducing Oakhurst Super Premium Chocolate Milk to consumers across Northern New England in order to replace the distribution of Hershey's Chocolate Milk that was recently discontinued. The local, family run company had been distributing Hershey's Chocolate Milk for many years and upon learning of Hershey's decision to exit the fresh flavored milk business, Oakhurst made the strategic decision to fill the gap.
"Oakhurst saw an opportunity to continue providing consumers with fresh chocolate milk choices. We are excited to offer our Super Premium Chocolate Milk and are confident consumers will find that the velvety smooth texture and big chocolate taste will satiate their chocolate milk cravings," said Jim Lesser, VP of Sales and Marketing at Oakhurst. "Oakhurst is a market leader in Northern New England with a strong distribution network, and consumers can expect the same fresh taste and quality they have grown to love from Oakhurst over the years in the new Super Premium Chocolate Milk."
New Oakhurst Super Premium Chocolate Milk will be made with Oakhurst's high quality fresh whole milk produced with no artificial growth hormone. Oakhurst has had an overwhelmingly positive response from retailers to the Super Premium Chocolate Milk which will be available in both convenient on-the-go pints and in quarts. The new product will be supported by in-store merchandising, including shelf strips and fridge clings, and with trade advertising.
Oakhurst is Northern New England's largest, independent dairy company, with three generations of commitment to the health and wellbeing of the community and the environment. For 87 years, the Bennett family has stood behind every glass of Oakhurst milk. The company contributes 10% of annual profits to organizations that promote healthy kids and a healthy environment –– another good reason to choose the Natural Goodness of Maine.
